Who is BOB?
I recently attended the much anticipated opening party for a new hair salon located in downtown Toronto. The salon is founded and run by a regular on the Toronto nightlife scene, Dustin Granofsky. Although this is Dustin's first salon his is no newbie on the hair scene. Since the age of eighteen Dustin has cut hair at the some of top salon's in Toronto's uptown Yorkville neighborhood and all around the world. He has cut and styled in Australia and Switzerland, as well as being voted and named Zurich's most favored stylist. He has styled celebrity heads such as Catherine Zita Jones, Marky Mark, some of Australia's top models and tons of local celebs. Dustin may be most recognized for his work at Toronto salon W on Queen Street West. His other great passion aside from hair is travel, which has inspired him to open his own salon. It wasn't until his most recent trip to Costa Rica that he decided it was time to settle down in one city and open a place of his very own.

After attending the opening party this past weekend I decided that it would be selfish of me not to share this brand new hidden treasure in the city. Not only is this a place you get your hair trimmed, it also an art and jewelry gallery showcasing some of Toronto's most talented artists. Dustin being the eccentric soul that he is wanted to open a salon that was different from anything else that Toronto has to offer. He wanted it to be more then just the regular bougie hair salon. Each wall will have a different piece of art and every five weeks the salon will be showcasing different artists paintings, murals and jewelry. The salon is located in a gorgeous loft space on the fifth floor of an old building with ceilings that are higher then you can imagine.
He spent months looking for the perfect space that had the right amount of character , he says, " I wanted it to have character , to give my clients an intimate experience".

The hardest thing for Dustin aside from settling down in one city, finding a space for his salon and getting his new business going was picking a name to call it. He wanted something edgy but classic, a name that makes people wonder but yet something catchy. He didn't want a name that sounded to feminine or too masculine. He spent over a month and many late nights with his pen and paper trying to brainstorm the perfect name, he expressed how frustrating it was finding a name that fit. Finally it came to him, Bob, Bob Hair Boutique. He chose Bob because it is a women's hair cut, but a man's name. Dustin explains Bob is his alter ego in his new salon. I personally think the name is brilliant, I love it and it's fun to say out loud. Watch out ,Bob may just be the future of hair.
